For promoting environmental sustainability practices and reliance on limited use of resources, Devaswom Board College, Thalayolaparambu has adopted the policies which reflect the institution’s efforts in conveying the need of energy conservation resorting to sustainable practices and management of available resources.
Objectives
- To reduce consumption of non -renewable energy
- To resort to maximum use of energy efficient equipments
- To promote environment friendly activities
- To recycle wastes so as to reuse its energy
- To give awareness to campus community on the importance of energy conservation.
Action plan
- Implement waste management practices in the campus
- To enforce sustainable policies and guidelines to adopt consistent implementation of conservation methods.
- To reduce carbon footprint
- Conduct energy and environment audit
- Design activities that foster sustainable practices among the students and staff
- Engage with local communities, government agencies, and environmental organizations to collaborate on conservation initiatives and share best practices.
- Shall rely on renewable energy from the waste generated in the campus and to reuse it.
- Shall entrust to keep sorting bins at different part of the institution so as to transform wastes to meet energy requirements.
Responsibilities
- Use energy efficient LED lights, Sensor lights, Solar panels etc. to
- Promote energy conservation habits among students, faculty, and staff through awareness campaigns, education programs, and incentivized initiatives.
- Instruct the students to turn off electrical appliances when not in use
- Shifting to car pooling
Monitoring
Monitoring hall be done with the help of campus beautification committee/ Green Campus Committee. Continuously evaluate and update conservation initiatives based on feedback received from campus community. The committee shall take initiatives in conserving energy and protecting the environment while fostering a culture of sustainability among students, Faculty, Staff.
