Department, at a glance
The Department of Chemistry was founded in 1965 under the headship of Dr. P. K. Saraswathy Amma, the first woman doctorate holder from Thalayolaparambu Grama Panchayath. The department started off with an undergraduate programme in 1979. It was upgraded to a postgraduate department in 1999 and in 2018, to a full-fledged Research Centre. With a diverse faculty, the department ensures that the students are well informed about the dynamic trends in the scientific realm. This is done by promoting innovative curriculum development while exposing students to advanced technology. The faculty acts as mentors to students by offering guidance in academics and value oriented life skills.
