Project initiated by Biodiversity Club, Reg No: KSBB/BC/2015, Department of Botany and IQAC.

Green campuses are integral in creating sustainable and environmentally friendly educational institutions. These initiatives focus on reducing the ecological footprint of campuses and promoting eco-conscious practices and ecological responsibility. These initiatives encompass a range of efforts, from energy conservation to waste reduction, to foster a greener campus environment.

  • Water conservation in campus – for efficient irrigation systems and promoting responsible water usage.
  • Recycling programs to minimize waste, encouraging students and staff to recycle paper, plastics, and other materials.
  • Educational campaigns – to raise awareness about sustainability issues and promote eco-friendly behaviours among the campus community.
  • Tree-planting initiatives – to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus which also contribute to carbon sequestration and air purification.
  • Sustainable transportation options, such as bike-sharing programs and electric vehicle encourage environmentally friendly commuting.
  • Campus gardens and organic farming initiatives – to foster a connection between students and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Composting programs are established to manage organic waste and create nutrient-rich soil for campus landscaping and gardens.
  • Energy-efficient lighting systems, including LED technology, are implemented to reduce electricity consumption and lower carbon emissions.
  • Eco-friendly events and activities, such as Environment Day celebrations and environmental workshops – to engage the campus community in sustainability efforts.
  • Environmental audits conducted to assess and monitor the ecological performance of the campus, identifying areas for improvement.

Future Programmes:

Initiated collaboration with Nature’s Signature Foundation – This green initiative (Harithasparsham) envisages to recapture climate in its pleasentness and trigger students to turn more sensitive to earth and its well being. The objectives confine to

  • Biological Control
  • Natural Water Harvesting
  • Biodiversity Conservation
  • Wind breaking
  • Micro climate
